p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · B&H return policy: only 200 captures allowed on cameras to avoid restocking fee?
I've pre-ordered from B&H a Sony a7RII, and expecting it to work well with my Canon EF lenses with FotodioX adapter.
On the B&H website, the "return policy" indicates: "If, for whatever reason, you are dissatisfied with your purchase, you can return it to B&H within 30 days of purchase date ..."
IIRC, B&H used to have a policy of "no more than 200 shutter activations to test whether the camera works ok". With 201+ captures, a return was subject to a restocking fee.
Am I thinking of another vendor? Or this policy no longer applies? Or I'm confused?

What did they say when you called them?

200 clicks definitely used to be the rule as I remember reading it a couple years ago. Luckily, I've never had to return a camera to them. I think I've returned a lens twice in all the years I've purchased from them, and they were very easy to deal with.

The shutter actuation limit on returns was eliminated from our return policy some time (a year or more) ago. We did so in no small measure in response to feedback from photographers in places like this and dpreview.

Thanks for the clarification.
To me, there's a lot that can go wrong with a brand new Sony camera + Canon lens + FotodioX/CommLite/Metabones adapter. I have a lot more confidence to proceed and pay "early adapter" prices if there is a "friendly" return polity.

This is yet another reason why I love shopping at B&H. There were occassions in the past where I bought a camera or two from Crutchfield because they mention a no-hassle 60-day return policy. But if you look at the details, you'll see
Been heavily used (such as when a camera shutter counter shows that more than 300 pictures have been taken).
A friend had a hard time with them because of the Fuji X100T's "shutter count" showing false shutter counts.

I've never had a return problem with Crutchfield. If they hassle you a little after 55 days, so what? They're the only ones I know with a 60 day policy.
Return policies used to be 14 days at both B&H and Adorama when this digital revolution was starting. There's still companies out there with that policy too, so a buyer needs to do his research.

If you're an"early adapter", then shouldn't you call it a ".../Metabones adopter"?

And I used to have a 31" waistline and a full head of thick dark brown hair. :-)

I don't even want to think about waist or hair. At least my eyes are still blue!
