The rally over the last two days was the “easy” part of the oversold bounce. Yesterday the S&P 500 closed just below the area where it topped out on both Tuesday and Wednesday of last week (~5,080). After opening modestly higher equities faded throughout the morning but have come of the lows over the last hour. Yields especially at the long-end of the curve, are testing recent highs which does seem to be tempering some of the enthusiasm. As we head to print, the S&P 500 is up 8pts to 5,079 (+0.2%), the Dow is up 13pts to 38,516 (+0.0%), while the Russell 2k is down 12pts to 1,990 (-0.6%). As the market tries to repair itself technically the zone between 5,075 - 5,125 will be important. This is where the downside momentum began to pick up and coincides with 20/50d moving averages.
