Do stocks do well after a split?
Is the split worth it? – Stock splits have no tangible impact on a company's total value—they simply create more shares at more affordable prices. Nor does a split change the total value of an investor's portfolio holding per se.

Stock splits can improve trading liquidity and make the stock seem more affordable. In a stock split the number of outstanding shares increases and the price per share decreases proportionately, while the market capitalization and the value of the company do not change.
After a split, the stock starts trading at the adjusted price. In this example, if the share price was ₹900, then it would fall to ₹450 (1:2 ratio) immediately after the split. Beyond the immediate impact, the price of the stock may actually go up if there is higher demand for it.
After the split, each share—all else being equal—will be worth half of what it was pre-split. Let's look at another example: A four-for-one split. If a company's shares are trading at $400 per share, and an investor holds 100 shares, after the split, they'll hold 400 shares, each worth $100.

I think that the overall stock market will deliver positive returns in 2024. However, I expect those returns to be somewhat smaller than they were last year.

The most recent Apple stock split came in 2020 as the world was reeling from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Shares are trading just below its all-time high of $181.35 per share. The retailer also recently announced a 9% dividend hike which, postsplit, will be an annual payout of $0.83.
If you own 50 shares of a company valued at $10 per share, your investment is worth $500. In a 1-for-5 reverse stock split, you would instead own 10 shares (divide the number of your shares by five) and the share price would increase to $50 per share (multiply the share price by five).
Amazon went public on May 15, 1997, and the IPO price was $18.00, or $0.075 adjusted for the stocks splits that occurred on June 2, 1998 (2-for-1 split), January 5, 1999 (3-for-1 split), and September 1, 1999 (2-for-1 split), and June 3, 2022 (20-for-1 split).
